Are you considering pursuing music in your future? Whether you want to be the next big thing or just want to perform in the shower, learn how to develop your sound as a musician. This unique workshop is designed for aspiring artists whose career goals may be to work in the recording or music entertainment industry. Popular Music involves discovering your brand and how to market yourself in a way that you want to be represented.
TV/Film/On-Camera
Grades 6-12

Friday, June 14th (Melanie Brook) 6:30-8pm
An introductory workshop on how to break into the commercial/TV/ Film world. Melanie will talk about her real world experiences, teach commercial/TV/Film technique, and students will do cold reads of popular on-camera scripts.
Broadway Song Interpretation
Grades 6-12

Friday, June 14th (Melanie Brook) 8-9:30pm.
Musical theatre class/ interpreting a song for an audition. Melanie will talk about what it's like to be a professional singer/actor in NYC, what Casting Directors really look for, "types", audition cuts, how to stand out at an audition, and what makes a good musical theatre audition. Participants will perform an audition cut and Melanie will work on perfecting it.
Popular Music Songwriting

Looking to improve your songwriting? In this class, we will showcase our own original songs and talk about what makes a great song. Young artists will develop their creative skills through the foundation of modern American music.
Melanie Brook is a native Oceansider who is currently a working professional actor/singer in NYC. She recently filmed a new series on HBO that will be out this fall. She is starring in an upcoming film, Summertime Dropouts, that will be released this summer. She has been seen in musicals Off-Broadway and on national tours. She has several national commercials and voiceovers currently running on TV/ Radio. Melanie graduated from Wagner College with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance in 2013. Dean Klebonas currently studies Musical Theatre and Popular Music Performance at Rider University. He was awarded 2017 Best Musical Theatre Actor at the NYC Roger Rees Awards, which led him to perform and participate in the prestigious, Jimmy Awards, hosted by Tony Award Winner, Ben Platt. He is a published musician on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc. With his 3P entitled "Rulebook". Dean performed Off-Broadway in NYC as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. Dean has also been a part of 5 Mainstage productions at Rider thus far, and starred in all of the musicals at Oceanside High School and Mainstage at To The Stage. He has had years of training from Broadway professionals in the areas of voice, acting, dance, and pop performance.
